Carpe Diem

Debrajanes mur de plaques inspired me to blog about this gallery wall in my house.  It’s got a bit of a garden theme to it.  I love how it turned out.

It started with the needlepoint picture of geraniums that my mother did.  We moved her out to California to live with her sisters a year ago. She went from an apartment to a room.

Which left some things behind that I inherited.  And I am glad I did!!

The window came from my sister-in-law, she lives in Chicago, it came out of an old school building, it was given to her as well.  She asked me if I could find a use for it.  Are you kidding! Of course! She gave me 2 of them. When they were hung in our other house, one of them I put current snapshots in and I would change out from time to time. The other, hung on a large wall above my Kitchen.  When we moved last August after 19 years, I knew I would find just the right place for them!

My 17 year old daughter snagged one of them using it as a frame for a poster of Ed Sheeran which hangs in her room. 20180511_174833.jpg

This print of geraniums came from my mother-in-law.  She has been slowly cleaning out closets and attic space trying to downsize and clean out years of collections. She and my father-in-law are in their early 80’s and it’s time to start thinking of a smaller space.  They live in N.W. Arkansas in a 4 bed house with a full basement that includes a bedroom and game room.  There is a ravine behind it that wildlife like to wander through. We call it “The Cabin”.  There will be another blog to come about ‘The Cabin” soon!

This all leads us to the pillow pictured on the sofa and the caption Carpe Diam.  It’s a saying that I try to embrace daily.

Seize the day

Seize the moment

Seize the memory

Seize the memory of all things from family, travels, and creativity.  This is just one of my favorite spots in our new house. Slowly but surely we are making it ours. And seizing every minute of it!

What a fantastic idea, adding a needle point behind a windowpane. Love the one that your daughter made of Ed Sheeran as well. Thank you for the inspiration!
