Grilled Sandwiches

I am on a kick!!  We have some good friends whose son made my 2 teens lunch one day while at the pool.  It was simply 2 slices of french bread with ham, a slice of cheese, the other piece of bread on top with shredded cheese on top. Baked in the oven until warm and melty! They acted like I had never made them a hot ham and cheese sandwich before!  But it was the way he made it that counted.

Since then we have made many different versions of this hot cheesy sandwich.  With sliced ham, sliced turkey, bacon, Havarti, Swiss, and Colby Jack!  But my new favorite is a recipe I found on Pinterest. Here is the link:

Oh my gosh, it’s a must try!  The salty bacon, the creamy cheese, the spicy jalapenos, and the sweet sweet berry jam, all hot and melted together.  YUM!!

I have been quite adventurous this week, my husband was on a business trip and so dinner was a little different while he was gone!

I also found a recipe for a grilled Turkey and bacon with avocado:

Turkey Bacon and Avocado Grilled Cheese sandwich loaded with fresh basil, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese on a hearty artisan bread. Recipe at TidyMom.netThis incorporates fresh basil, which I just happen to also have in my garden!  Tomatoes, I had to purchase, they are not ripe in my garden yet. Some hearty grain bread, Mozzarella cheese, turkey bacon, and a smear of butter, grilled to a melty perfection!! Delicious!

And just think, it all started with a simple grilled ham and cheese for the kids!  The possibilities are endless!  Use your imagination and your garden, and don’t forget, your tastebuds!!
